Proof

The thinking, then the tool.

GO-EZ isn’t advice — it’s a way of finding the real problem and a working fix that lasts. Here’s the method you can play with, and a result you can hold.

The method · from Goldratt’s “The Goal”

Every system has one bottleneck. Find it, and everything changes.

In The Goal, a troop of scouts can only hike as fast as its slowest kid — Herbie. Put Herbie at the front and lighten his pack, and the whole troop speeds up. Every business has a Herbie. The Theory of Constraints turns finding and fixing it into five steps:

  1. 1

    Identify

Find the one constraint actually limiting output — usually not where people assume.

  2. 2

    Exploit

Get the most out of the constraint exactly as it is. No idle minutes on the bottleneck.

  3. 3

    Subordinate

Make everything else serve the constraint. The rest of the line paces to it — not the other way around.

  4. 4

    Elevate

Now add capacity to the constraint — more people, a better tool, a smarter step.

  5. 5

    Repeat

Fix one, another appears. Go back to step 1 — and don’t let old habits become the new limit.

Steps 1–5, live

Meet your Herbie.

A simple four-step line. Each step can only handle so much per hour. Try to speed the line up — the result surprises most people.

Intake60/hr
Prep25/hr
Build50/hr
Ship40/hr
The whole line’s output: 25 units/hr

Prep is the bottleneck — your Herbie. No matter how fast the other steps can go, the line only moves at Prep’s pace.

The tool

Tools that run on their own.

Case study

From hours of manual entry to a one-click deposit

A regional fishing-tournament nonprofit

The constraint

Every event, the office admin re-keyed registration and payment data into QuickBooks by hand — slow, error-prone, and dependent on one person remembering the steps.

The fix

A self-contained converter: drop in the registration CSV exports, get a clean, QuickBooks-ready deposit file out — with a guardrail that makes double-imports impossible. No accounts to connect, no API to maintain.

The result

A multi-hour manual task became a one-click step the admin runs herself — and will keep running long after the engagement closed.

“Make improving your business easy” isn’t a slogan.

It’s the test every GO-EZ deliverable has to pass: can the people who stay run it?
